Slogan
“Challenging youth to go farther than they can see.”
Purpose
The organization is exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding sections of any future federal code. We exist to make a difference in the lives of citizens in Pulaski county, Virginia and any surrounding areas possible. To do this we provide weekly and monthly events that consist of recreation, food, music and Christ-centered messages always free. We also have weekly tutoring and homework sessions availible free of charge.
History
The Rock Youth Center of Pulaski, Inc. was established August 22, 2006 by local Youth Pastor Joe Blankenship and his wife Kelly, various youth workers, community leaders and concerned citizens. The center is in response to the community’s need for a charitable organization that can provide the nutritional, physical, mental, spiritual and economic tools that will make a difference in the lives of our youth.
Vision
We envision a charitable center that furnishes support tools that lead the youth of Pulaski County away from crime, violence, drugs and poverty to a solid decision making process. We believe this will assist them in becoming good students and solid citizens. Though we currently have full access to Central Gym we are in the process raising funds to purchase our own facility. This building will include the following plus much more: a full size gym, classrooms, a tutoring center and a youth room for special speakers and uplifting music.
